The founder of Mei Auctions, Yi Meggie Mei, was born in the Zhejiang Province of China. Meggie immigrated to the United States in 2009 and currently resides in Austin, Texas. She graduated from Shanghai International Studies University with a major in English, and obtained two master degrees in Criminology and Homeland Security in the United States and Singapore. After pursuing a doctorate degree in Criminology for a year, Meggie soon realized her desire was to follow her dreams which are arts and auctions. In 2016, she became the first licensed bilingual English-Chinese auctioneer in the United States by starting Mei Auctions.

 

Meggie is a graduate of the American Auction Academy in Dallas, Texas. She is an active member of the National Auctioneers Association as well as an active member of several state associations. Meggie was the first licensed Chinese auctioneer to obtain the designation “Benefit Auctioneer Specialist” (BAS) by the National Auctioneers Association Institute. In 2018, Meggie was admitted to the Certified Auctioneer Institute (CAI) program which is the highest-ranking designation in the auction industry. CAI is a three-year program and once completed she will be recognized by her peers as an expert in various asset classes, methods, business practices and technology in the auction industry. Meggie is determined to promote western auction methods to Asian American communities who view auctions as an exclusive playground of the rich and famous but can be a useful tool to open a new world for them as well. Meggie would like to utilize these same auction methods to promote China’s profound cultural heritage to the people of the United States.

 

Meggie has been engaged in a variety of auction services such as fundraising, private boutique events, high-end real estate and personal property auctions. In 2019, wanting to extend her passion in the field of arts and antiques, Mei Auctions created two divisions that cooperate with several Chinese antique appraisers to conduct mid-range and high-end Asian Antique auctions on a monthly basis. 

 

Now, Meggie is ready to expand her dream which is to connect the auction markets between the United States and China.
